“The greatest medicine of all is teaching people how not to need it”
(Hippocrates)
EduCareToons was launched in October 2022 by Dr and Dr Mrs Orazulume, both experienced medical doctors in the UK. They believe that providing the public with better access to credible health information, can reduce the burden on healthcare systems and improve healthcare outcomes worldwide.
The Inspiration
The founders’ day to day clinical practice as a GP and a Consultant Paediatrician has helped to inform them of clinical areas where patients and the public commonly need more information and support (far beyond the time-constraints of a doctor patient consultation), to be able to optimise their health. Their educational healthcare cartoons aim to provide these practical explanations of day to day health matters free on YouTube, so that “the doctor’s advice” can be replayed and revisited as many times as required.
The Purpose
Globally, it has become apparent that there is a lot of misinformation online and also a paucity of trustworthy, authoritative health information for those seeking it. This is significant because each person’s health knowledge is a key determinant of their health. Your healthcare begins at home; Your ability to make good lifestyle choices that not only promote health but in addition prevent disease (or slow disease progression), stems from your fundamental knowledge and understanding of ‘health’. This knowledge will then likely be passed down to subsequent generations, repeating the cycle.
Educaretoons’ videos are FREE & easily accessible to anyone around the world on YouTube, so we hope our high quality content can help to bridge this global public health knowledge gap. We want our videos to utilise the powerful force that is ‘social media’ to capture this generation’s attention, engage and educate them on pertinent health matters, and motivate them to make the changes needed to improve our future health outcomes.
